Drawing your own anime can be rewarding, especially when paying homage to some of the most popular anime moves and television shows played on the internet and American television.
The first step to creating anime is to find an inspiration. Every famous anime artist has their own individual style. Even casual anime artists have their own ways of creating the facial features and body. Try drawing a few sketches to get started. Experiment with eye shapes, fabric folds, and body shapes.
A hard lead pencil is best for creating light sketches.I found some more information here. Then, make those sketches darker with a softer lead drawing pencil. Clean up any guidelines with a kneadable eraser. To create perfectly smooth lines, invest in an inking pen from an art store.
The key to creating smooth lines is to trace over the pencil drawing with tracing paper. A light box may be used to make lines more visible. Small, affordable light boxes are available for home use.
At this point, the smooth line drawing can either be scanned onto a computer and colored digitally, or colored in with markers or a colored pencil. Watercolor is also a good medium for anime. The drawing will look clean and finished, ready for framing.
